Thank you for visiting my website.
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Ohio University and Faculty Director of the Stevens Center for Literacy and STEM Education. My work focuses on equity, justice, critical literacies, and mathematics teaching and learning in early childhood and elementary education.
Drawing on nearly three decades of experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, teacher educator, and researcher, I collaborate with schools, teachers, families, and communities to support engaging, child-centered learning experiences that connect academic content to issues that matter in children's lives.
My teaching, research, and outreach examine how educators can create more equitable and humane learning spaces, particularly in mathematics education. Through collaborative partnerships and externally funded projects, I work alongside teachers to explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning that center children's strengths, experiences, and agency.
