Dr. Courtney Koestler

Welcome to my page! I have been working professionally in the field of public education since 1998 when I started my career as a public school teacher. I'm currently the Director of the OHIO Center for Equity in Mathematics and Science and an associate profession in the Department of Teacher Education in the Patton College of Education at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

My teaching, research, and outreach work centers on equity, diversity, justice, and critical literacies in early childhood and elementary education. I am a children's and professional book author currently working on my sixth book centered on the importance of building and sustaining community when doing equity- and justice-oriented work.

Before working as a university-based researcher and teacher educator, I served as an elementary and middle school teacher, and a mathematics instructional coach at the K-5 leveI. I have worked in culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse communities located in urban, suburban, and rural places, and in all of these roles, I have worked closely with children, families, and teacher colleagues.
